About Me

Diktys Stratakis is a tenured Scientist and Group Leader at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) as well as an Adjunct Professor of Physics at Northern Illinois University. Diktys received his bachelor's degree in Physics from University of Crete (Greece) in 2000, his master's in Physics from University of Florida, Gainesville in 2002, and his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2008. After graduation, he spent two years as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles and two years as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). At BNL, he was later promoted to the ranks of Assistant Scientist (tenure-track) from 2012-2014 and Associate Scientist (tenure-track) from 2014-2016. In 2016 he joined the scientific staff of Fermilab in the Accelerator Division, where he earned tenure in 2018. At Fermilab, Diktys currently serves as the Group Leader of the Design and Simulation Group as well as the Deputy Department Head of the External Beam Delivery Department in the Accelerator Division. Diktys resides in the Chicago area with his wife Lily and their son Emmanuel. Diktys enjoys long distance running and has completed 45 marathons or half marathons in 45 different US States.
